Docking is the centre point branching in all directions to the resorts and beauty spots of North Norfolk. You are spoilt for choice where to go. If you enjoy beautiful North Norfolk Beaches, you can choose Hunstanton, Brancaster, Thornham, Holme, Burnham Overy Staithe, Holkham Beach, Wells and carrying on as far as Blakeney and Cley to the south, The local beach of Brancaster is just 4 miles away or 5 minutes by car, 20 minutes by bike.
Stately homes nearby include Sandringham, Houghton Hall and Holkham Hall.
Burnham Market is only 5 miles from Hollyhocks, taking just 10 minutes by car. A charming market town (sometimes referred to as “Chelsea-on-Sea”), it has a range of exquisite private shops for all tastes. The Hat Shop in particular is well worth a visit.
There are walks and hikes in all directions starting from or near Docking. The Peddars Way is very close by. Bircham Windmill, considered to be one of the best remaining examples of a British Windmill, is a short drive southwards. Hollyhocks is just a 10 minute car journey from the recently created Ringstead Downs Nature Reserve.
If the weather should be inclement, then the town of Kings Lynn is just 16 miles west, while the pretty Georgian market town of Holt is 24 miles east. Norwich, the capital City of Norfolk is 40 miles south (about 1 hour maximum by car) with all its attractions, shops, museums, Castle and Cathedral.

Hollyhocks Cottage itself is within 2 minutes walk of a beautiful well-stocked fishing lake in Docking. One-day licences are available at the local garage for a small fee.
The best fish and chip shop for miles is just 2 minutes walk away and there is a well stocked mini-supermarket just a stroll away, which is open 7 days per week from 7am until 10pm. There is a post office inside the supermarket. Each Wednesday you can buy fresh local produce from the weekly Docking Market at Ripper Hall.
The “Railway Inn” restaurant and pub serves lovely meals and is a 15-minute stroll from Hollyhocks. Read about other good North Norfolk restaurants here.
Other facilities within 5 minutes walk of Hollyhocks Cottage include a park complete with children’s playground, swings, slides, tennis courts, basket ball courts, cricket pitch, football ground, bowling green etc., and a Doctors Surgery.
